Water Supply Update for Co Westmeath at 5pm 4th January

WEATHER RESONSE UPDATE – WATER SUPPLY
TUESDAY 4th JANUARY 2011 at 5.00 pm

Please Report all Leaks

Water consumers are advised that a large number of leaks have occurred following the adverse weather. This is resulting in water supply restrictions and reduced pressures. As water supplies return to properties, owner should continuously check for leaks within these properties.
 
The Council is working to deal with these leaks as quickly as possible. It may be necessary for the Council to implement emergency supply restrictions without warning in order to ensure that reservoir levels are maintained and to facilitate repairs.

Westmeath County Council appeals to all persons to reports ALL LEAKS to Westmeath County Council at 044 9332000.

In order to restore reservoir levels & to ensure that all parts of the county have a water supply tomorrow, Wednesday the Council will implement a series of planned service supply restrictions to most WATER SUPPLIES in Co. Westmeath tonight, Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

All water consumers are advised that nightly water supply restrictions will continue in order to replenish water levels in Council reservoirs for the next 5 nights.


Water Supply – Athlone

Eastside

The water supply to areas served by the Annagh Supply will be restored for a limited period from 8.00am noon today, Tuesday until approx. 5.00pm today.

It is planned to restore water supplies to area served by the Annagh Supply from 8.00am Wednesday 5th January until approx. 5.00pm Wednesday, subject to the reservoirs being replenished to a satisfactory level. Leaks continue to be identified and repaired, and every effort is being made to restore supplies.


Town Centre

A water supply is being maintained to the town centre area of Athlone including Irishtown to Castlemain St., and the Montree/Beechpark/ Assumption Park Avenue areas.
The Coosan supply, serving the north side of Athlone, is operating and will be maintained for the foreseeable future.

Westside

The Batteries Supply, serving the west side of Athlone is operating and will be maintained for the foreseeable future.

Water Tankers are deployed at the following locations in Athlone:
•    Cornamaddy School
•    Retreat Park
•    A.I.T. car park
•    Athone Regional Sports Centre


Standpipes throughout the Athlone Area have been withdrawn today, Tuesday due to the improvement in supply.


All water consumers are advised that nightly water supply supply restrictions will continue in order to replenish water levels in Council reservoirs for the next 5 to 7 nights.

Water Supply – Mullingar Regional Water Supply Scheme.

Water Supply in Kilbeggan & Horseleap Areas

Water main bursts are affecting water supplies to the Kilbeggan town, Horselep, Ballinagore and surrounding areas. Repairs are currently underway.

Water Tankers are deployed at the following locations in Kilbeggan:
•    The Gallups
•    Abbeybrook
•    The Square Kilbeggan
•    Clara Road, Kilbeggan, near Dunbia entrance
•    School in Horseleap


Standpipes in the Kilbeggan Area continue to be deployed due to ongoing water supply difficulties. Standpipes are being operated by local Residents Associations, hours of operation may vary.

General Water Supply Restriction Tuesday 4th January - Mullingar Regional Water Supply Scheme

Due to the recent severe weather conditions and the depletion in treated water levels it is intended to close parts of the Mullingar Regional Water Supply Scheme tonight, Tuesday 4th January 2011 in order to conserve water and to allow water storage levels to be replenished in the reservoirs.

This will affect water supply to the most areas supplied by the Mullingar Regional Water Supply Water Supply Scheme & includes environs of Mullingar, including most housing estates Milltownpass, Rochfortbridge, Tyrellspass, Ballinagore, Kilbeggan, Horseleap, Killucan, Rathwire, Kinnegad, Ballinalack, Streete, Lismacaffrey and Rathowen.

•    Tuesday night / Wednesday morning  - Tuesday 4th January /Wednesday 5th January, 9.00pm to 9.00 am

All water consumers are advised that nightly water supply restrictions will continue in order to replenish water levels in Council reservoirs for the next 5 nights.

Water Supply – Coole/Lough Lene Regional Water Supply Scheme

No Water Supply Restriction Tuesday 4th January – Coole/Lough Lene Regional Water Supply Scheme.

In order to facilitate the detection of leaks, the water supply in this area will be maintained on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

All water consumers are advised that nightly water supply restrictions may be re-imposed in order to replenish water levels in Council reservoirs for the next 5 nights.

Standpipes throughout the Coole Area have been withdrawn today, Tuesday due to the improvements in supply.

Water from Standpipes/water tankers should be boiled before consumption
