Graveyards

Graveyards are an important part of our heritage and should be treated with respect.

Westmeath County Council has made Cemetery Bye-Laws for the regulation of cemeteries. These Bye-Laws come into effect on the 29th April 2013 and apply to any cemetery in which the Council has acquired any estate, interest or control.

A copy of the Bye-Laws may be purchased at a cost of €1 or inspected at the offices of Westmeath County Council in Athlone or Mullingar. They can be viewed or downloaded also: Bye Laws for the Regulation of Cemeteries 2013
