Library membership and services
Join your local library
Joining the library is easy. All you need to do is call into your local library and- Fill out an application form
- Pay the annual registration fee
- Provide official identification
- Children and Second Level students need their application forms signed by a parent or guardian as guarantor.
Items can be borrowed for 3 weeks. They may be renewed online, by telephone or by calling in person, provided the items are not required by another member.
Adult members may borrow 8 items at a time. Secondary school students are entitled to 6 items, and junior members may borrow 4 items.

Fines
20 cent per book per week. Any items lost or damaged must be replaced or paid for.
Special Requests
If your local library does not hold the book you want we can request it for you from another library. Please speak to a member of staff for more information. The following fees apply
- Request fee €1.00
- Borrow Books €5.00
- Inter Library Loan €10.00
Internet Access
We provide internet access computers in all our libraries. The following charges apply per 50 minute session:
- Adults €1.50
- Children/Students/unemployed: €1.00
We also offer an Express Session which lasts 15 minutes and costs 50 cents.
WiFi is available to members in Athlone and Mullingar libraries. You can log in to the wireless network with your library barcode and PIN. If you do not have a PIN please ask at the library desk. If you are not currently a member you can sign up to join our WiFi service for €5.00 a year. Please see our Wi-Fi Guidelines for further information
Printing & Photocoping
Black and white photocopying and printing are charged at 25 cent per A4 page and 30 cent for A3 pages.
