Notice is hereby given in accordance with the requirements of the above Regulations, that Westmeath County Council proposes to undertake the following development.
The realignment of the N52 National Secondary Route in the townlands of Killynan (Pratt), Tevrin, Balrath North, Crosserdree, Reynella, Williamstown (Briscoe), Ballygillin, Williamstown (Rochford) and Hiskinstown, comprising the construction of a single carriageway road for a distance of 6 km from a location 100m west of the N52 junction with local road L-16094 in the townland of Killynan (Pratt) to a location 150m east of the N52 junction with local road L-1622 in the townland of Hiskinstown and associated accommodation & fencing works, landscaping works, drainage works and ancillary works.
The N52 realignment will typically consist of a 7.3m carriageway with 2.5m hard shoulders and 3m verges. The local road L-16094 will have a simple junction with the new N52. The existing N52 will be realigned to reconnect with the old N52 at Killynan (Pratt) providing local access. A new ghost island staggered junction will be provided at the junction of the new N52 with the local road L-1618. Simple junctions will be provided for the local roads L-5620 and L-5621 on the northern side of the proposed realignment. The local roads L-5620 and L-5621 on the southern side of the proposed realignment will become cul-de-sacs. A new ghost island staggered junction will be provided at the junction of the new N52 with the existing N52 in Williamstown (Briscoe)/Ballygillin. A new ghost island staggered junction will be provided at the junction of the new N52 with the L-5623 and the L-1622 in Williamstown (Rochford)/Hiskinstown, which will require the realignment of the local roads creating three cul-de-sacs for local access.
The development has been the subject of an Appropriate Assessment screening in accordance with Article 6(3) of the EU Habitats Directive (Directive 92/43/EEC) and the Planning and Development Acts 2000 as amended.
Plans and particulars of the proposed scheme may be inspected at the Westmeath County Council, Aras an Chontae, Mullingar and the Westmeath County Council, National Roads Office, Culleen Beg, Mullingar, between 9.00am to 1.00pm and between 2.00pm to 4.00pm each day, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, from Wednesday 29th November 2017 to Tuesday 09th January 2018.
